I may not be the only one that has seen the rash of NBA Cares, or the NFL family series of commercials. This sends me back to a story I had heard about a celebrity (unnamed) who made a 200,000 donation to a charity then spent $10,000,000 wil market and PR firms to promote the fact that they had done so.
If I have to seen Jason Kidd or Tim Duncan cares one more time as the cameras follow them into a preschool and place a snata hat on their head I think I will vomit.
I appreciate the fact that they did do whatever they are selling, but the fact remains it isnt charity if the giver benefits more than the recipient.
The price of good publicity is more expensive than what is being handed out so in fact those in these commercials are gaining much more than giving.
It is sad to see they need to show everyone what they di in order to find the time to do something good hearted.
I do not put this on the players, as much as leagues trying their hardets to repair the damage done when there are no cameras around and these players are acting naturally.
Seems if everyone involved was a gracious and generous as we are tricked to believe then there would not be such a need to fix the leagues reputations.
PS: I love the play of Jason Kidd and Tim Duncan, both class acts.

Dear Anderson Cooper, stop acting like Geraldo and read the news in a way befitting a professional journalist.
